Vision U12 - 4 -----Westend Lions U12 - 4
Report Submitted by Mark Bentham

Vision U 12 took on League leaders Westend , who they had lost to previously only a few weeks ago . The Vision squad was bolstered by some of the U11’s whose match had been cancelled and wanted to help out to cover for absentees and injuries.

The pitch was boggy but playable and Vision were playing up the hill in the first half. Westend were soon in front when their captain -who had been a thorn in Vision’s side in the last match - powered in a long range shot . After that Vision held their own for most of the half but poised little threat in front of goal . Ten minutes before half time Westend added a second and when key defender Ben Adams was off with an injured hand Vision let in a soft third goal to go in 0-3 at half time.

The second half saw Vision have the advantage of the slope but shortly after the restart Westend notched their forth to make any comeback seem unlikely. Vision began to claw their way back into the game and Caden Wilkinson scored their first and Ben Adams added the second when his free kick deceived everbody –including the Westend keeper and went straight in . At this point Vision realised a comeback was on and began to play with much more conviction . Caden Wilkinson scored his second after a scramble in the box and with five minutes to go there was mass jubilation as Vaughan Williams latched on to a through ball that had been held up in the mud to guide it past the advancing keeper.

At this point Westend suddenly realised they had let a four goal lead slip and came back at Vision with some desperate attacks ; this resulted in some last ditch defending and Westend had a goal ruled out for offside . Vision were able to hold on though to gain an unlikely point . Congratulations to all for an inspired second half display .
