In a rematch of last years cup final North Gawber came looking to avenge their defeat. The match was the first to be played at Sedburgh and the undulating pitch did not help either side play good football in a match of few chances. Vision were the better team in the first half but had little to show from their possession until some good work from Tom Bentham saw him chip the advancing Gawber keeper from eighteen yards to open the scoring. At the other end Gawber rarely threatened though Ben Adams was on hand to produce an excellent tackle to deprive the Gawber forward a one on one with the keeper. Vision were one nil up at half time but Gawber had the advantage of the slope in he second half and used it to good effect . They won the aerial battle in midfield to put the Vision goal under constant pressure. A mixture of good defending, desperate keeping from stand in goalkeeper Tyron Sagar and good luck made Gawber increasingly desperate , however the inevitable happened and Gawber equalised from a shot that rebounded in to the path of a Gawber forward . In the last few minutes Gawber looked the more likely winners though Vision had a good penalty shout denied after Ryan Whitfield appeared to be pulled down by the Gawber keeper. The final score was perhaps a fair result but Gawber may consider themselves unlucky. |
